Facets of Goddesses

Owlis: Owlis is the goddess of Fall. She is referred to as Fall the Season and Fall the bringer,
because she is the Lady of War, she causes the fall of dragons. Owlis is also the goddess of beauty
with Cyras noting she is the most beautiful fox she has ever seen. Owlis is also associated with
fashion and weaving. Owlis is a Weaver.

Sumhyr: Sumhyr is the youngest of the four cousins and is associated with trickery. Sumhyr ruled
over the lost kingdom, and is associated with fashion. Sumhyr is a Thief.

Ryvoh: Ryvoh is associated with nature to a further extent the other three. Her name is Spryng, as
in the season and the water. Ryvoh is associated with trees. Ryvoh is a Gatherer.

Snofall: Snofall is associated with winter. Snofall is associated with peace. Snofall is an Oracle.

Bloom and River RPG Announcement

While I've mentioned the RPG idea several times, I feel like I should start an official "Launch". Hats in the water, this RPG is getting created. I began testing on August 15th, so I'll say we're now in Pre-Alpha.

This is Bloom and River, Owlis Edition. I am working on the base game first, which explores the journey of trying to make a new society known as Utopia, up until the appearance of the dragon Despair.

So what needs work:

Firstly, Base Races. There are plans for several playable races. Those are: Dire Wolves, Dire Canines (Jackals and Coyotes), Dire Foxes, Fire Hyenas. Crimsons. Bohs. Violets. Twayts.

Base Classes: There are plans for ten base classes, with two Exclusive Classes, or special classes that must be obtained later. These classes are: Ritualist, Knight, Fighter, Hunter, Medium, Thief, Engineer, Bard, Ranger, and Coder.

Base Traits - traits are storytelling parts of a character. Traits evolve a character. There may be a flaw versus virtue system, or even an evolution of traits system.

Base Talents - Talents are skills that aren't necessarily from a class or race (but can be), and are skills anybody can train and learn. These function almost like an additional level system.

Bestiary - what kinds of enemies and monsters you'll find in Wysdom.

Bosses - Big beasts.

Lairs - Exploration through lairs and levels. Fight various creatures and obtain great treasures.

Raids - Events that aren't part of the base story but still support the base story.

Story - This is based on a story after all. There's currently a story in place for surviving in Wysdom, but an idea of a Wysdom Wilds exploration map.

So when do I expect to be capable of presenting a viable "product"? Oh at least six months. The battle mechanics have been figured out however.

Dungeons and Dragons Classes

So what classes would my characters be in DND in N:Era, is the question today.

So firstly, most Wilders would fit very well with Barbarian. Barbarian inherently is the class of the wild man. Ranger also works pretty well, as well as Druid.

Cyras, would specifically again be a Thief-Bard combo. With a slight Arcane Trickster addition as her prestige class. She's sly, quick of tongue, and highly charismatic.

Lilu might be a straight up Barbarian, with her rage powers.

Ahmond is a supporter. I always figured she'd be a Cleric, having powers to boost others.

Rosod meanwhile, works a lot with magic, and since she studies a lot, I would say a Wizard.

Finally, there's Owlis. Owlis would definitely be a Fighter seeing how great she is at beating others up. However, with all her magic, I'd argue either Warlock or Sorceress would be important. Sorcerers work best with Charisma. She also may have a slight paladin tinge.

Maypol is definitely a Barbarian with high damage per round output.

Karv might be closer to a Ranger, never really hitting that hard, even if he could hit hard anyway.

Self-Question: Gw2 Character classes for N:Era Girls

I thought I'd ramble about this. This is half a ramble and half a question, all about Guild Wars character classes and who fits what.

So there's nine major classes in Guild Wars 2, and those are:

Warrior, Guardian, Revenant, Ranger, Engineer, Thief, Mesmer, Elementalist, and Necromancer.

Cyras would quite clearly be a Thief. She works more on stealing stuff and moving around quickly, and thieves are also pretty high DPS.  Specifically, she would be a Daredevil, which is the elite specialization found in Maguuma jungle. Daredevils are highly survivable, which fits Cyras' high endurance.

Lilu would fit better as a straight up Warrior. Specifically, she would end up being a Berserker. Berserkers focus on high intensity power, and even set themselves on fire with torches. Berserkers also focus on primal bursts which fits the hyena girl a bit.

Ahmond might best be a Guardian. Guardians work more with runes for protection. Firebrand might fit Ahmond as they focus on tomes and history and Ahmond is very connected with her past.

Finally, Rosod would clearly be a mesmer. A mesmer is an illusionist, which fits with Rosod's psychic powers. Also, she'd be a virtuoso which work with spiritual swords, which fits Rosod's finesse.

Now Owlis is a character class known as a Weaver in story, but does she match up with Guild Wars 2 Weavers? Not quite. A Weaver in Guild Wars 2 works with all four elements and Owlis' power is actually enchanting and seeing past magic.

The counter to mesmers is the Spellbreaker Warrior Class. Fittingly, Owlis also would be a Warrior, being highly powerful. While Owlis definitely uses lots of elements, being lightning, wind, fire, and nature, she also is powerful. Tempest could also work if going the elementalist route, but she's simply not someone who is a glassjaw.

Other characters:

Daybreak - Engineer, Scrapper Specialization.

Karv - Guardian, Willbender. - Willbenders protect the Canthan throne, Karv protects Jazmyn.

Jazmyn - Warrior, Bladesworn. - Canthan - ironic since hyenas are from Elona. But either way, Bladesworn work with gunsabres and more precise attacks. Also on the opposite end of Berserker, and Jazmyn tries to appear sophisticated.

Ryvoh - Ranger, Soulbeast. Soulbeasts merge with their pets.

Kryyk - Thief, Deadeye. Thieves who focus more on critical hits and stealth attacks.

Maypol - Warrior, Berserker.

Orch - Citizen. Best guess might be Engineer, Scrapper, since he works with toys.

Baynana - There's not really a comic book reviewer class or bard class. However, Thief might work looking at her parents, and because of how sophisticated Cantha is, saying she's a Spectre might be best.

Clovur and Portus - both works mostly with alchemical potions, therefore Necromancer with Harbinger specialization may work best. Harbingers damage themselves with potions before transferring the negative effects on opponents.

Question: Music in N:Era

"What is Music like in N:Era?"

So, obviously, they wouldn't have the same types of musics being from a different world. However, on the other hand, they have the same types of animals, plants, and fruits for the most part.

Uh yeah, so music. Wilder music - music from the wilds, is usually not really a thing. Part of being a wilder is a lack of culture, so music is usually extremely freeform. There's never really any focus on one idea, and is probably memorized if someone teaches this. A great idea might be Classical and Jazz music. There's lots of segments in either. Instead of verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, you have segments of song. Some Wilders may have theirs memorized, but Cyras literally redoes Sour Grapes every time she sings, but there is a structure within Sour Grapes.

Obviously, without sophisticated tools, Wilder music is often banging sticks against something for percussion, and sometimes clicking the tongue or mouth.

Real structured music developed primarily in the Aplepsis continent, where Wysdom is at. The music can be criticized as sterile, but also praised as having a good tempo or feeling.

The continent of Valarri is more known for music based on impression. Improvisation and swing is important, as no one piece can cover all emotions, therefore a piece must be adjusted to fit said emotion such as "The Last Dew". Being in a desert, The Last Dew represents a song about losing something for the time being that won't come back for a long time. However, in one rendition, there may not be a flute, meanwhile in another, a flute may be appropriate for adding a more sorrowful tone.Valarri art is also more prone towards plays, where they can make stuff up on the moment. This approach is criticized because of lack of replicability but praised for sheer power.

Luxworth in Wysdom has a different musical culture than most of Wysdom, as most of Luxworth was founded by Crimson immigrants. There's an art of absence in Luxworth. You don't really appreciate a guitar until the guitar isn't playing. Their art is fragmented as is their music.

Don't Knock Fox: MLP: S506: Most Wanted In Appaloosa

Radio Static

Hello mutants, this is JAC the flaunt and Kieral the taunt.

Now unfortunately, there are some episodes that aren't easy to talk about. There are some instances of an episode being one-note and predictable. This is one of those episodes. Appaloosa's Most Wanted is about Troubleshoes, who cause a lot of mayhem at the rodeos. The Cutie Mark Crusaders try to stop Troubleshoes, only to find out he's this awkward giant who just sucks at the rodeo. He tells them about his cutie mark and how that means bad luck, however the girls figure this just means he should be a rodeo clown. Anyway, for kidnapping three fillies, Troubleshoes is arrested and is gonna get hanged for being a horse thief, but the girls break him out, he goes out and rodeos. And he's a good rodeo clown. And also he falls a lot and that's most of that.

Truly the predictability is this episode's biggest flaw. The CMC is out looking for this "criminal", but then we see him as just an ordinary clumsy dude half way through the episode. As soon as you got that, you know the rest. If there's anything interesting in this episode, it's the fact that we get to visit a prettied up Appaloosa as well as a number of new locations (Like Troublehooves's home, and the nearby woods.) The scenery is detailed and there are a couple nice dramatic shots.

This is also one of the few episodes where the CMC get punished. Technically they usually just get shunned, however now they face hard labor.

I was a bit surprised to get another CMC episode after we just had one in the last two. To me this one almost feels related, because we actually meet someone who is troubled by their cutie mark. I think if you view them as being related then this episode takes on some more meaning. Being able to reframe problems actually is considered a good life skill (which Troubleshoes seemed to lack- everything's "bad luck" to him). Of course, the CMC mostly sort that out for him, though he did make the right choice to accept that.

I dig this one the most, some dramatic perspective and close foreground to frame things. All those slanted angles make it unsettling just the right way. I also like how we can see out into the windows, and although it's detailed, the colors are more close together. Nothing it overwhelming enough to take the focus off the characters.

A lil' bit more nice perspective and forest detail

Lastly I dig that wide opening shot, it establishes everything that's going on in one swing, got a real deep field of view, but it's easy to read. It brings across the pleasant mood the opening is supposed to have.

Star Ratings:

2/5

Generally, I walk in with the idea of 3/5. This score sometimes improves, sometimes not. While there's not much technically wrong, there is just a whole lot of predictability and one-frameness. This is certainly not a one star, one-star implies a whole lot worse.

3/5

I enjoyed watching the episode, even though I pretty much knew what was going to happen. In most episodes I don't, so it's a bit below average in that regard, but I enjoy the adventure and find some interest because of the previous episode I mentioned, and for me that makes up for it.

Recommendations

If you're okay with stooge comedy, there's nothing wrong with this in particular, but fans with more sophisticated tastes, who need nuance, are likely to leave this alone.

It's an easy to watch, feel good story. In a way the predictability lowers the sense of anxiety a bit, and I could see this as being something in comfort episode territory. However if you're looking for what MLP has to offer at its best in terms of writing, it's simply a skip.
